It was a dark and cold night.  I was asleep and my mother came in and said “your brother has been hit by a car and we need to go to San Francisco right away”.  I woke up thinking well he probably just got hit and is ok.  Little did I know that my entire world was about to come crashing down around me.   

When we arrived at the hospital the doctor told us that it was serious and that he may not make it.  That was when reality hit me.  I watch the news and see bad things happen every day, but never imagined that anything like this could happen to my family.  Two weeks later I watched my brother take his last breath.  That was the worst day of my life.         

Jess was my brother, and more than that he was my best friend. John Wong has taken away the best thing that has ever happened to me.  My brother taught me many things, but one thing that sticks with me more than anything is to cherish the people who matter to you most, and that friends are better than enemies.  I’ve never met a person that my brother hasn’t taken in and said lets be friends.  He cherished his family, his girlfriend, friends, and most of all his life.  John Wong has hurt a lot of people by taking away my brother, but he has hurt me the most.  I will have to live the rest of my life without the guidance and knowledge that my brother would have given me.

I always thought of my brother as a sort of super hero, couldn’t be hurt.  I have realized in the last sixteen months that life is precious and not to waste it.

I understand that John Wong has the rest of his life to live, but you must realize that his actions have not only halted the rest of me and my families life, but has taken the life of a young man that had so much more life to live. 

I urge you to give this man what he deserves, and to punish him to the full extent of the law.  Not for me and not for my family but for my brother.  I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Another Pre-Trial Hearing
scheduled for
12/03/03
at which time the Judge can entertain a plea bargain
from John Wong and his Public Defender.
If this does not happen,
a Trial is scheduled for
1/09/04
